Computer Science & Technology (CST)

Computer Science & Technology department strives to prepare skilled Diploma Engineers having technical proficiency, knowledge, professionalism and make them competent personalities with strong foundations adapting to changing technology. The department of Computer Science and Technology aims to prepare skilled and professional workforce that are industry ready and that can adapt, sustain and contribute to the increasing demands of software industry. To bolster this effort, here in CST a sophisticated and state-of-the art laboratory along with a plethora of young, dedicated and hardworking professionals work as a team for the success of the students.

The CST department has qualified, dedicated and experienced faculty members looking after the academic activities of the department. "Education Round the Hour" is our vision and "We Involve and You Learn" is the mission of the department. There is the facility for tutorial and remedial classes for the upliftment of the weaker students of the department and special career advancement classes for those students who want to excel in their carrier. A strong departmental placement cell caters the training and placement of the department. Provision for special coaching classes is beingarranged for those who want to appear in JELET to opt for higher studies.

Eligibility

For candidates taking admission in 1st Year :

Candidates must pass Madhyamik Examination from West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or its equivalent examination from the Board/Council.
There is no upper age limit. However, the candidate should not be born after 01.07.2009.

For candidates taking admission in 2nd Year :

Candidates must pass HS (Vocational) of WBSCT&VE&SD

OR

Candidates must pass 10+2 examination from the recognized Board/Council listed below, with any one of the subjects/areas of Physics / Mathematics / Chemistry / Computer Science / Electronics / Information Technology / Biology / Informatics Practices / Biotechnology / Technical Vocational Subject / Agriculture / Engineering Graphics / Business Studies / Entrepreneurship

OR

Candidates must pass 10th + (2 years ITI, continuous), in annual system or semester system, in any branch of Engineering and Technology.
There is no age limit.

Program Educational Objectives (PEO)

PEO-I : To prepare Diploma students who will be successful computing professionals.

PEO-II : To prepare Diploma students who will be able to communicate effectively, exhibit leadership and also work collaboratively as team in multidisciplinary projects, if needed.

PEO-III : To prepare Diploma students who will pursue higher education, or work in industry upgrading their technical skills through lifelong learning.

PEO-IV : To prepare Diploma students who will contribute to the society by minimizing the digital divide and to provide exposure to professional ethics and codes of professional

Career Prospects of Computer Science & Technology

Students who acquire top level ranks in the polytechnic entrance examinations opt for Computer Science Technology.
Computer manufacturing units recruit Computer Engineers at junior level for designing and manufacturing censors, CAD design of VLSI Chips, Micro Processors, Micro Controllers, circuit boards and other various parts and application software to design various devices.
Computer Engineers are working in various fields like Signal Department, maintenance of Radar, on-board computers and in various other software companies.
There is also a scope for lateral academic movement of the intending students for earning higher academic degrees.
